Way More than a Delay!

Objeq Delay is a completely new and unique creative effect plug-in that only AAS could dream up. It combines acoustic models, with a sophisticated delay unit, analog filters and an LFO, to create a whole new category of effects processing. Objeq Delay utilizes acoustic models of a plate, beam, drumhead, and string objects to suffuse the input signal with evocative acoustic resonances. Further shaping is available via low and high-cut filters. The in-series delay can behave like a traditional delay, but it can also split the first and subsequent repeats to remodel the attack, or create intricate rhythmic patterns. An LFO module completes the package with comprehensive synth-like modulation destinations to the filter, resonator, and delay parameters.

Check out this video demonstration by Sean Divine:

Objeq Delay is a truly creative and fun effect with multifaceted applications,” said Eric Thibeault, the product’s designer, “Objeq Delay is obviously a great delay unit, but the complete feature set takes it to another level. The acoustic resonator is a great percussion track enhancer—it’s fantastic on kicks and snares. The split between the first and subsequent echoes can mangle simple loops into new complex rhythms. The LFO allows various modulator-type effects such as flanger and chorus. And then when you bring it all together, a highly resonant object with the delay brings you into the drones territory.”

Objeq Delay: Overview

Take a look around the Objeq Delay interface and hear it in action.

The Delay Module

See how the Delay Module's two delay lines are used to create a variety of tempo synced and modulation style effects.

The Object Module

Hear how this is used to process the input signal through an acoustic resonator to change the tonal clolour and timbre of the sound.

The LFO Module

Explore how these parameters are used to modulate the values of parameters in the other Objeq Delay modules.

The Filter Module

Hear the effect of filtering of the input signal before it reaches the object or delay module; and see how modulating the filter's frequencies via the LFO module generates interesting rhythmic frequency shifts in the signal.

The Presets

Explore the variety of presets that ships with Objeq Delay, along with some simple and fun ways to get the most out of them.

“Every now and again, you come across a plug-in that genuinely changes the way you work and becomes—for whatever period of time—your first choice plug-in, and that may be a week or a month or a year, it's one of those plug-ins. I'm not gonna say the word game changer, we are not going to do that, but it's a game changer.”
—Ty Unwin, composer, on Sonic State's Sonic TALK

“Objeq Delay is the most fun I’ve had using an effect—hardware or software—in years. Strymon could put this functionality in a piece of hardware, release it as a limited edition, and it would be fetching four-figures on Reverb.com. If you are a creative musician, you need this effect! Boom!”
Paul Williams, TabMuse

“I was fortunate enough to use this plugin during the development cycle and it truly does sound fantastic. At first, I wondered why I would need another delay plugin in my toolbox but quickly found out that Objeq is not your average delay plugin. I’ve been using it in both my production and mixing sessions with amazing results.”
Sean Divine, producer/mixer

“Objeq is perfect for anyone looking for a distinctive delay that is musical, inspiring, and sui generis. I give this fine effect an affectionate double thumbs up—Love it! Thank you, Applied Acoustics Systems, for developing this effects gem!”
Tommy Zai, user, Gearslutz

“Objeq Delay is a plug-in like no other from the folks who know a few things about complex mathematical modelling to produce audio; it is so not just another delay.”
David Baer, SoundBytes
